How to make a pie board


A classic meat and cheese platter filled with cold cuts is a staple of any gathering. So for Thanksgiving, what better way to show your gratitude than by creating a perfectly themed board for the big day? Instead of salami roses and perfectly stale slices of gouda, we’re talking mini pies with * adorable designs * and caramel sauce with apple slices.

This is the pie board you take out for dessert. Once everyone has finished their turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, they’ll be ready for something sweet. It’s a very DIY dessert without being too overwhelming for anyone steeped in a tryptophan mist (plus you can make it ahead of time). Bake a few different kids of nicely decorated pies, serve them with whipped cream and caramel, and fill the presentation with apple slices and raisins. With this step by step you will be on your way to making your own.

1. Bake your pies.

Full-size pies have no place here; it’s a mini pie plate! You can, of course, buy mini pies at a bakery or supermarket, but if you bake them make sure you do it in mini foil pans, they will make your life. so much easier because you avoid the struggle to get the baked pie crust out of a muffin pan and guests can easily eat their pie right out of the mold. Make sure there is enough for the number of guests you have (around 1 pie per person).

We have chosen an assortment of mini pies for the platter:

    We first tried this board with a store bought pie crust and quickly realized it was a mistake – in terms of presentation, it will never look as good as the real thing. Here is our proven butter crust recipe.

    2. Start with the whipped cream.

    When building the board, it’s easier to start with a focal point and then build the rest of the ingredients around it. Whip some cream, transfer it to a bowl and place it in the center of the board.

    3. Arrange the pies.

    There is no real art form to this. Place them firmly on the board, stacking a couple for some dimension.

    4. Nestled in bunches of grapes and apple slices.

    Fill any empty spaces with bunches of red and green grapes and apple slices, fanning them and storing them in open spaces. They act as a filler and a tangy bite to break up the wealth.

    5. Add texture with fresh cranberries and pecans.

    From a bird’s eye view, you can probably see tiny spaces that could use something. This is where you can make little piles of colorful berries and pecans to fill everything up.
